What are reviews?

A review consists of a star rating, a written summary and a set of selected attributes, left for a teacher by their students and peers. These reviews are incredibly valuable, as they help other TeachStreet members determine if a class or teacher is right for them.

Teachers are also given a rating based upon their reviews. The overall rating for a teacher is an average taken from each of their reviews, across all of their classes.

How do I get more reviews?

From the "Teach" page, click the "Request Reviews" link and you'll be able to send an email to your students or fellow teachers, asking them to review you on TeachStreet. You can also just click the 'Request Review' button on your Profile and Class pages.

How do I know the reviews are written by my actual clients?

We require users to register before submitting reviews and ratings, to mitigate chances of anyone abusing the rating systems. Teachers also have a chance to respond to every review - so if you receive a review from someone you've never taught, you can say so. We also advise all TeachStreet members to be proactive and request reviews from their clients - so they know who, exactly, is singing their praises!

And, of course, we rely on the TeachStreet community to flag any reviews or ratings that seem suspicious, incorrect or inflammatory.

What are your policies around removing reviews?

There are a few cases in which we may remove a review. If it falls into any of these categories, we'll more than likely consider tossing it out:

Vulgarity and inappropriate language. While we welcome constructive criticism, there's no need to bash an instructor or class. Let's be real but friendly about it.

Irrelevance. Write a review that's informative and insightful for the specific instructor or class to help others get the honest, inside scoop. No spam please

Plagiarism. Don't take a review or testimonial from another person and use it as your own. We laud originality around here.

Privacy violation. Including personal information or messages including email addresses, URLs, phone numbers and postal addresses is NOT cool at TeachStreet.

Unlawful content. Content determined by TeachStreet to be illegal or to violate any federal, state, or local law or regulation or the rights of any other person or entity will definitely get the boot

An important thing to remember here is that as someone being reviewed you will always have the ability to write a response to a review. Provide your own personal feedback and insight on what was written about you or your class. If you believe a reviewer has violated one of the above guidelines, contact us and we'd be happy to take a look at the problem.
